Yarrow plants are organically grown in the most fertile soils in Bulgaria, the Thracian Valley, also known as the famous Valley of Roses. The climate in this region is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea and the Balkan Mountains (600-3000 metres). Two climatic zones meet here: the temperate continental and the Mediterranean climate, with more than 200 days of sunshine a year and the influence of the warm winds from the Aegean and the Black Sea. This unique combination gives the Bulgarian terroir its typical, fine character. The yarrow is harvested during the flowering season in the summer months and distilled using gentle steam. This oil is particularly well-balanced and its fragrance is beautifully expressed. Fresh, pungent, stimulating monoterpenes are balanced by sweet, green, cooling, relaxing esters, sesquiterpenes and monoterpenols. The particularly high content of chamazulene can be recognised by the cobalt blue colour of the oil and gives it its well-known regenerating and harmonising, balancing properties.
