Bioactive Alpha-Tocopherol
Vitamin E is, chemically speaking, an entire vitamin group consisting of 8 different compounds. These are divided into 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols that are further categorised as alpha, beta, gamma, and delta.
Alpha-tocopherol is the form of vitamin E with the highest bioactivity and the only form that has been recognised as fulfilling vitamin E requirements in humans. All other forms of vitamin E are measured against alpha-tocopherol, which is preferentially absorbed and accumulated.
The molecule alpha-tocopherol can occur in various geometric variants. Natural alpha-tocopherol always takes the form of RRR-alpha-tocopherol (formerly referred to as D-alpha-tocopherol), and only this form has the desired biological effects on the body. By contrast, synthetic vitamin E is typically a combination of various isomers and contains partially inactive L-alpha-tocopherol. Our drops therefore contain only natural, bioactive D-alpha-tocopherol.
Health Benefits of Vitamin E
