Our vitamin D3 + K2 gummies combine vegan vitamin D3 from a plant source with its cofactor, vitamin K2. Each gummy contains 1000 IU vitamin D3 + 25µg vitamin K2 all-trans MK-7. Our Original K2VITAL® vitamin K2 is one of the few active ingredients on the market that can guarantee a content of at least 99.7% all-trans MK-7. This consistently high level of purity is ensured by a special laboratory test developed in Norway.

Our vegan Vitamin D3 + K2 Gummies are based on valuable fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), a group of dietary fibres which are obtained from the natural inulin found in chicory root. They are characterised by their mild sweetness and have a number of positive properties. Unlike many vitamin gummies, ours are produced completely without artificial sweeteners or additional sugar substitutes.

The production process for gummies requires gelling agents that guarantee a good texture, as well as coating agents that prevent the gummies from sticking together. We use purely plant-based gelling agents and completely avoid animal gelatine, which is often obtained from low-quality slaughterhouse waste, and modified starches. The gelling and stabilising agents we use are obtained from lemon peel (pectin), red algae (agar-agar) and the root tubers of the cassava plant (tapioca starch). We use carnauba wax as a coating agent, making our gummies purely vegan. Citric acid is often used as an acidity regulator, which is usually obtained with the help of moulds and genetically modified microorganisms; the use of phosphate compounds such as tricalcium phosphate is also common. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and citrate compounds (such as sodium citrate) are better alternatives for these ingredients, which are used in our vitamin gummies.

Our vitamin D3 + K2 gummies are characterised by their naturally fruity raspberry flavour. The gummies are also gluten- and soya-free.

We use light-protected and environmentally friendly amber glass instead of plastic for the packaging.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D3 is found almost exclusively in animal products, namely meat, dairy and eggs. Lichens also contain vitamin D, as do various fungi. The latter, however, only contain the less effective vitamin D2. Vitamin D is a very peculiar vitamin. In the classical sense it is not a vitamin but rather a pro-hormone.

In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.

Vitamin D is still the subject of intensive research. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. To date, the following statements on vitamin D have been approved by the EU (EFSA):

Vitamin K2 MK-7

Vitamin K2 MK-7 is today considered by far the most effective form of K2. However, since vitamin K2 molecules occur in a variety chemical structures (the so-called cis–trans isomers of vitamin K2), there are considerable differences in efficacy even between different vitamin K2 MK-7 compounds. It is believed that only the trans forms can be utilised by the body.

Vitamin D and vitamin K2 are cofactors in the regulation of calcium metabolism. Together, the two vitamins form and break down bones as well as the important transport molecules which ensure the correct utilisation of calcium. Sunday Natural Vitamin D3 and K2 MK-7 combine the two nutrients in a ratio that ensures optimal interaction.

Currently, almost all authorities do not consider vitamin K2 separately, but all K vitamins together. Accordingly, the statements released for vitamin K1 currently apply to vitamin K2.
