Our organic turmeric latte is a harmonious composition of selected superfoods. For outstanding taste, optimum solubility and a balance of valuable plant power in a cup.
Turmeric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.), a ginger plant native to India, has been revered as a sacred plant for over 5,000 years. According to ancient writings in the Indian Vedas, "turmeric" or "Indian saffron" was considered one of the most important spices of its time. In Ayurvedic teachings as well as in Chinese tradition, the root plays an important role. The natural turmeric powder in our turmeric latte comes from cultivation without pesticides in India. After harvesting, the roots are shade-dried and gently ground into a fine powder. It offers a full, balanced spectrum of all the important ingredients of the root.
Carob
Carob is the dried and ground pulp of the carob pods. The typical taste is aromatic, sweet and reminiscent of caramel and cocoa. Our carob powder comes 100% from the native carob tree from cultivation without pesticides in Sicily. Over 70% of the world's traditional carob production takes place there, as traditional carob cultivation has been closely linked to Sicilian culture for centuries, meaning that the fruit from the Mediterranean island is considered to be particularly tasty and rich.
Lucuma
Lucuma is one of the most widely cultivated fruits in Peru and is extremely popular due to its mild sweetness and pleasant taste. Even the Incas valued it as one of their main sources of food ("gold of the Incas"). Our lucuma powder comes from cultivation without pesticides in the Peruvian Andes and is made from the whole fruit. As the lucuma fruit begins to ferment quickly, it is immediately deseeded after harvesting, gently dried (<45°) and ground into a fine powder. Lucuma powder in raw food quality impresses with its natural sweetness and its naturally broad spectrum of phytochemicals.
Cacao
The history of cocoa dates back to the 14th century, when the Aztecs considered cocoa to be sacred and worshipped it as a gift from God. They used cocoa beans not only as an offering and a means of payment, but also to make a bitter, spicy drink called Xocóatl, from which the word chocolate originated.
Our cocoa powder is grown without pesticides in the heart of the Amazon region of Peru. The raw cocoa beans come directly from a renowned fine cocoa finca in San Martín (single origin). Our cocoa powder consists of a 100% blend of the fine cocoa varieties Criollo and Trinitario. After careful harvesting, the cocoa beans are gently processed by experienced small farmers. This ensures that the full bitter taste and the wealth of valuable phytochemicals are fully preserved.
Yacon
Our yacon powder comes from pesticide-free cultivation in the Peruvian Andes, where they grow naturally at 1,000 - 3,200m above sea level. The starchy, naturally sweet root tubers have been a tradition there for centuries. The yacon roots grow at untouched altitudes far away from large cities and are surrounded by typical Andean flora and fauna. To produce the yacon root powder, the hand-picked roots are carefully cleaned and gently dried. They are then ground into a fine beige to dark yellow powder. No heat treatment takes place during the entire production process, which preserves the raw food quality of the yacon root powder. Yacon impresses with its natural sweetness, low glycaemic index and valuable ingredients.
Ashwaganda
Ashwagandha, also known as the sleeping berry (Withania somnifera), originates from the arid regions of India and has played a role in Ayurvedic teachings there for thousands of years. Ashwagandha is a plant from the nightshade family. The name Ashwagandha comes from Sanskrit and loosely translates to "smell of the horse," as the roots smell strongly of horse. The term "somnifera" comes from Latin and means "bringing sleep" ("somnus" = sleep, "ferre" = to bring), which is why it is also known as the sleeping berry. However, it is not the ashwagandha berry - which is poisonous in large quantities due to its alkaloid content and also tastes very bitter - that is used, but the roots and leaves. These parts of the plant contain the so-called withanolides, the most well-researched phytochemicals in ashwagandha to date. Our ashwagandha powder comes from hand-picked roots that are carefully washed, dried in a raw food process at 42°C and gently ground.
Reishi
Reishi is one of the most important mushrooms in traditional Chinese herbalism. Revered as the "mushroom of immortality" or "mushroom of eternal life," it is perhaps the most important basic mushroom. According to tradition and early records, reishi has been used for around 4,000 years. Our reishi medicinal mushroom powder comes from the most renowned Chinese region for medicinal mushrooms in Gutian County, Fujian (600-700m above sea level). There, cultivation is an age-old tradition and produces mushrooms of unprecedented quality. The special soils, the sophisticated substrates and the climatic conditions in the untouched nature of this region, which is protected by densely forested mountains, ensure a high concentration of valuable mushroom ingredients. Our mushrooms are organically grown, thrive naturally and are harvested by hand between July and October at the peak of their vital substance content. Thanks to the particularly gentle drying process at below 40°C, the mushrooms retain their full raw food quality. The valuable, sensitive mushroom ingredients are thus fully preserved.
Cinnamon
Our 100% pure organic Ceylon cinnamon powder comes from the evergreen true cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum, also known as Cinnamomun verum). This variety, also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon, is considered the finest and most aromatic type of cinnamon in the world. Our cinnamon powder is made from the fine inner bark of the cinnamon tree. For this purpose, up to ten fine layers of the inner bark of the cinnamon tree are obtained, which are rolled into a closed stick. The finer the individual layers, the finer the cinnamon aroma develops with its naturally light sweetness. Cinnamon contains the cinnamon oil responsible for its unique taste and numerous other valuable ingredients.
Chinese Yam
The Chinese yam belongs to a special type of yam (lat. Dioscorea batatas) and is cultivated according to special cultivation guidelines. Only the purely male plants of a special type of yam are used for our Chinese yam. These are grown organically in the region around the Mecklenburg Lake District (in Germany) and harvested by hand from November to December. After harvesting, the tubers are gently dried at 38°C and gently ground to preserve the raw food quality of the Chinese yam powder.
Vanilla
Our bourbon vanilla (Planifolia) comes from organic cultivation in Madagascar. After harvesting the pods, they are sorted strictly according to aroma and then carefully crushed. The result is a light, homogeneous powder with a particularly rich, intense vanilla aroma and the fruity, gentle fragrance that is typical of the pods.
Cardamom, Long Pepper, Ginger
Our premium turmeric latte is rounded off with the pleasant spice of cardamom, long pepper and ginger. They each have a unique aroma and perfectly balance the caramel-like sweetness of yacon, lucuma and carob. We pay particular attention to the high quality and outstanding aroma of the raw materials. They are free from any additives and artificial flavourings.
Guar Gum
The particularly creamy texture of our turmeric latte is due to the organic guar gum, which is obtained from Indian guar seeds (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba).
