Ecklonia is a genus of kelp found prevalently in the Pacific Ocean. The brown algae is a well-known and popular ingredient in the local cuisines of southwestern Japan and Korea as well as of southeastern China, where it thrives in clear coastal regions. The bicyclis (also known as arame) and cava strains are particularly rich in phlorotannins, valuable polyphenols found largely in brown algae.

Fucoidan is a sulphated polysaccharide from brown algae found predominantly in the Fucus genus. These strains thrive in areas far away from environmental pollution, such as Tasmania, Patagonia and Nova Scotia. Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that occurs naturally in plants - this plant pigment is responsible for the colouration of flowers, while also offering protection against certain environmental influences. The blossoms of the Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica) and the seeds of the Fava d'Anta tree are particularly rich in quercetin, and it can also be found in larger amounts in onions, apples and broccoli, although these are far more difficult to extract.

Resveratrol is one of the polyphenols and is concentrated in particular in the skins of numerous fruits, including red grapes. Resveratrol exists in two forms, cis- and trans-resveratrol. Only the trans form exerts its full biological and physical effect.

Rutin is a secondary phytochemical from the flavonoid group as well as the glycosidic compound of quercetin or luteolin. Red vine leaves, rue, parsley and the Japanese pagoda tree are naturally rich in rutin.

The trace element selenium supports the normal function of the immune system, the protection of cells from oxidative damage, thyroid function, the maintenance of hair and nails as well as sperm formation, which could be relevant for fertility.

SOD (superoxide dismutase) is an important bodily enzyme of the antioxidative system. It is a catalyst for the conversion of reactive oxygen molecules, so-called superoxides.

Taxifolin (dihydroquercetin) is a derivative of quercetin and a bioflavonoid that occurs naturally in plants. It can be found in onions, apple peel, citrus fruits and in the bark of various conifers, including larch (Larix gmelinii). Larch is very popular because of its longevity and resilience. Taxifolin, which is present in large quantities, is one of the substances responsible for these advantageous properties.

Vitamin C is an essential vitamin which contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue as well as to the normal functioning of the immune and nervous systems, the regeneration of vitamin E and the protection of cells against oxidative stress. This vitamin also increases iron absorption, supports normal collagen formation and maintains blood vessel, bone, teeth and skin function.

Silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) is a European coniferous tree in the pine family. In medieval herbalism, the needles, shoots, cones, seeds and resin were utilised.
