Character

Special blend from Sunday Natural

This special and unique blend harmoniously combines the extremely catechin-rich Cistus tea from Greece with the rare Karigane Sencha, the active and particularly mild green tea, with ten of the most important traditional winter herbs from different cultures. Special varieties have been selected to optimise the ingredients, ensuring intensive broad-spectrum coverage of the most popular ingredients and a unique synergistic combination.

Our tea experts have personally selected only the highest quality teas from the very best sources. All teas come directly from specialised farms that are leaders in their fields. The recipe was created in a very elaborate process in order to achieve the perfect balance, strength and harmony.

The tea is highly active, warming, calming and soothing at the same time. Despite the many polyphenols, it contains almost no caffeine. An ideal, active winter tea for evenings, for children, for caffeine-sensitive people and for frequent consumption.

Cistus

The Cistus incanus is a member of the rock rose family. The plant is predominantly found in southern Europe, where there is copious sunlight. This plant is considered one of the most polyphenol-rich in the world. The cistus can grow up to 1 metre tall and prefers chalky soil and silicate rocks. The plant folds its leaves in during the hot summer months when waiting for rain. The cistus blooms in the spring, bearing delicate pink flowers.

Cultivation & Processing

Location, Cultivation, Processing

The Cistus incanus variant of rock rose used in this tea originates from Chalkidiki, and is grown on Mt. Othrys in Greece. This region is well-known for its herbs. As a result of natural cultivation, our rock rose has a particularly high concentration of the polyphenol complex that rock rose is renowned for.

The organic karigane sencha is a blend of cultivars, mainly Yabukita and Okumidori but also other cultivars, from Chiran and Kagoshima in southern Japan. These refined versions of stem tea (kukicha: 80% stem and 20% leaves) are rich in amino acids, low in caffeine, and have a significantly high catechin content.

We also source our Greek mountain tea from Mt. Othrys. The variant we use, Sideritis scardica Type 2, has a very high content of anthocyanins.

All other herbs used in this blend are sourced from specialised farms with ideal growing conditions for herbs.

Cistus Incanus

The use of the famous Cistus Incanus as a tea dates back to the 4th century BC. In Greece, the infusion has also long been enjoyed as a thirst quencher and for relaxation. The Cistus grown by our tea farmer on the famous Mount Othrys has a special and intense polyphenol mix that is not found in any other region.
