Finest Origin - Highest Grade

The black spruce thrives in the boreal coniferous forest in the Canadian region of Eeyou Istchee James Bay. This region is characterised by a continental climate with strong temperature fluctuations, from 20C in the short summers to -40C in winter. These extreme climatic conditions cause the trees to develop complex, natural aromas such as bornyl acetate, camphene, α- and β-pinene as well as δ3-carene. The production of the essential oil, as a sustainable by-product of the timber industry, is regulated by a precise and strict legal framework of the province of Québec. The fresh wood and bark are collected throughout the year, crushed and distilled with gentle steam immediately after harvest to produce this very aromatic essential oil.

Farm

The producer of this essential oil is a company based in the north of the Canadian province of Québec since 2014, which has set itself the mission of sustainable development of the boreal forest of the Québec province, nature and wildlife conservation, partnership with the First Nations People and the Canadian government. The manufacturer pays attention to sustainability at all stages of production, from the tree harvest to the end product, and monitors, controls and documents these processes. The trees and plants used to produce the essential oils come mainly from sustainable and certified wild harvesting, from which high-quality essential oils and hydrolates are produced through steam distillation. The entire production process and the manufacturer's essential oils and hydroalents have been certified by Ecocert Canada since 2015.

Black Spruce

The black spruce (Picea mariana) belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae). The black spruce is native to North America, where it is mainly found from the far north of Canada to the edge of the low Arctic tundra and in the north-east of the United States. Of the forty species of spruce, it is the most resistant to very cold climates. According to some studies, it can withstand temperatures as low as -60 degrees Celsius. The tree can reach a height of up to 25 metres, the bark is reddish-brown when young and darker with age. The spruce has grey-green needles that are densely arranged on the branches. It produces small purple cones as fruit, which then turn light brown in colour. The aborigines of Canada used the cones, needles or resin of the black spruce for various traditional applications, including diarrhoea, burns or colds.

Aroma

The resinous, woody aroma envelops you with a feeling of warmth and security. The fragrance relaxes, allows you to breathe deeply and is a pleasant companion for meditation and yoga.
