Selenium
Selenium is a vital essential trace element and an integral part of more than 25 enzymes. It plays a role in several important bodily functions: protecting cells from peroxides and other radicals; reactivating other antioxidants such as vitamin C and coenzyme Q10; regulating and maintaining the immune system; activating the thyroid hormone thyroxin; preventing inflammation; promoting fertility; contributing to detoxification; protecting cells from oxidative damage by free radicals; maintaining healthy functioning of the thyroid gland; and promoting healthy hair and nail growth.
