Sandalwood trees (Santalum lanceolatum) thrive wild among various shrubs in the vast semi-arid landscape of Queensland, Australia. The semi-arid climate and the dry soil give the plants the best conditions in their endemic homeland to develop their natural active ingredients in a harmonious relationship such as cis-nuciferols, cis-beta-curcumene or cis-lanceols. The wild collection of the wood takes place periodically outside the rainy season. The essential oil is made from the trunk and large branches of the sandalwood tree using gentle steam in the local still.

Farm
The manufacturer of this special essential oil is a small family-run business in south-east Australia, which has been producing essential oils exclusively from wild, native plants for over 25 years. It uses ethical practices throughout the production process and supports sustainable harvesting, in keeping with the delicate ecology of Australia's arid regions. The virgin essential oils are naturally distilled with gentle steam to preserve the oils' structure and integrity.

Aroma
The sandalwood species Santalum lanceolatum from the sandalwood family Santalaceae is native to central and northern regions of Australia. The evergreen tree with a height of 1 - 7 meters has narrow grey-green leaves and between July and August small green to cream-colored flowers that develop into 1 cm large red edible fruits. The plant grows primarily in arid and semi-arid regions in the interior of the continent, but can also be found in coastal areas of Queensland and the Northern Territory. Sanatalum lanceolatum is a root parasite that depends on grasses or small shrubs for part of its nutritional requirements. Traditionally, the use of the plant was widespread and is used, for example, by the inhabitants of north-western Australia for medicinal purposes and is part of the "Burndad song cycle" in this region.
