Stress Profile Saliva Test

This test measures levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Samples are taken throughout the course of the day in order to create a profile of stress patterns over the day.

This test requires the use of saliva samples. According to a set time schedule over the course of a day, seven samples are taken then placed in the enclosed tubes. The schedule can be found in the accompanying instructions.

The samples should be taken in a calm environment. If the samples are taken in a stressful environment or following physical exercise, the result can be falsified. The first sample is taken directly after waking up and the last sample 12 hours later. We recommend choosing a day for sample collection on which you can easily adhere to the specified time schedule.

On the day of sample collection, please note:

• Take the saliva sample before or at least 30 minutes after brushing the teeth
• Do not mix the saliva with blood (e.g., from bleeding gums) and do not use mouthwash
• Rinse mouth with clean water before taking the sample and wait until saliva flow has normalised
• Follow the instructions while taking the sample

After taking the sample:

• Store it in the refrigerator
• Return it free of charge in the enclosed mailing bag, preferably not right before the weekend or national holidays
