Olive Farm

Olival da Risca is a young, dynamic and highly successful olive farm in Portugal. Founded in 2007, it is located near the town of Serpa in the southern Alentejo region on the Spanish border. The farm is run by two Swiss families and has been specialising in organic olive oil of Demeter quality for a decade.

In 2022 and 2021, the olive farm was recognised as a "Top Farm", gaining the highest Flos Olei rating of any Portuguese olive oil producer, with a score of 98 points.

Cultivation & Processing

The Olival da Risca farm boasts an area of 170 hectares with over 35,000 olive trees, some of which are up to 800 years old. Only native Portuguese olive varieties grow in these olive groves, such as Cobrançosa, Galega Vulgar, Cordovil, Galega Grada de Serpa, Gamenha, Verdeal, Carrasquenha and Mançanilha. Another 50 hectares are dedicated to growing citrus fruits, herbs and spices, also in Demeter organic quality.

The newest technologies are used to gently harvest the trees and collect the olives. The mill is located on-site, which ensures that the olives can be immediately processed after harvest, typically within 4 hours.
