Glutathione: a Potent Antioxidative
Glutathione is the most important cellular counterpart to oxidative stress. Glutathione intercepts radicals, protects the brain, prevents lipid peroxidation, and plays a role in detoxification. Glutathione deficiency is one of the main factors in cell ageing and can cause various symptoms including tiredness and low immunity.
Glutathione is not only a potent antioxidant itself. It is also required to reactivate other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, as well as α-lipoic acid. For this reason, glutathione is sometimes referred to as the "master" antioxidant.
