Additionally, there are 20 clearly defined award categories including the oil itself, certain characteristics and farming techniques. The editorial team consists of certified and experienced Italian olive oil tasters as well as their international network.

The Azeite Romeu from Quinta do Romeu has been represented in Flos Olei since 2011 and has continuously improved over time. It reached 95 points in 2018 and 2019.

Olive Farm

The family-owned Menéres olive farm has been passed on from generation to generation since 1874. Located in the north-east of Portugal, in the Norte region in Alto Trás-os-Montes, the farm produces olive oil, wine and cork. The farm exclusively practices organic farming.

Cultivation & Processing

The olive farm Quinta do Romeu is located at the site of an old cloister in the Portuguese province of Norte on the shore of the Duoro (UNESCO World Heritage Site) near the northern border with Spain. Operated by the Menéres family since 1874, the farm is home to 15,000 olive trees spread over 150ha of land. Over the last 20 years, the farm has completely converted to organic cultivation. The all-natural cultivation lends the fruits their unique aroma, while promoting biodiversity. The olive oil is also particularly rich in beneficial nutrients.
