The coconuts for this natural, cold-pressed coconut oil come from small organic farmers in the Philippines. The fully ripe coconuts, freshly harvested daily, are processed into coconut oil on site within 72 hours. By harvesting only the fully ripe coconuts, the coconut oil acquires a particularly fresh and fruity coconut aroma.
The gentle and rapid processing contributes significantly to the preservation of the coconut flavour in the cold-pressed oil. The pressing method follows the VCO process, whereby the coconuts are peeled, the white flesh is grated and gently dried. The extra virgin oil is then produced in a cold pressing process. The complex VCO process is very different from the cheaper KOPRA process. In contrast to VCO coconuts, KOPRA coconuts are pressed with the brown skin and then chemically deodorised to make the oil edible. Since our coconut oil is not heated during production, it contains 100% no trans fatty acids.
