Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Black Mitcham peppermint thrives in the sweeping countryside of rural eastern Tasmania, Australia. The historic cultivar, indigenous to the United Kingdom, has been cultivated in Australia since the 1970s for its coveted essential oil. The island's temperate climate provides a nurturing environment, allowing this variety to develop its complex natural fragrance created by a delicate balance of menthol, menthone and eucalyptol. The freshly harvested plants are carefully collected and steam distilled in the on-site distillery, resulting in this particularly aromatic essential oil.

Farm

This high-quality essential oil is made by a small company founded in Australia in 1980, which produces a small but ever-growing range of indigenous essential oils and plant extracts. Their natural products are obtained from either certified organic, sustainably cultivated or wildcrafted plants in collaboration with local producers, and they ensure traceability and sustainability while producing essential oils and plant extracts of the highest quality.

Mitcham Peppermint

Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) belongs to the mint family (Lamiacaea) and grows mainly in the northern hemisphere, particularly across Asia and Europe. Peppermint is a cross between 2 of the approximately 30 known species of the Mentha genus: water mint (Mentha aquatica) and spearmint (Mentha spicata). This variety was originally cultivated in Mitcham, an area just south of London, starting in the mid–18th century. It is considered a historic cultivar and is commonly known as Black Mitcham because of the dark purple colouration on the stems and leaves. Peppermint is a hardy perennial that can grow up to 90cm high. On the underside of its dark green leaves, along the purple veins, you can just make out the oil glands which produce the plant's essential oils. It produces spiky pink and purple flowers in the summer months between July and September.

Aroma

The fresh, powerful aroma has an invigorating and grounding effect. On a mental level it reduces stress, while emotionally it promotes a sense of confidence and invites self-acceptance.
