Original Extramel® is a premium, 100% natural, plant-based form of SOD in organic quality. This plant-based extract is made from the freeze-dried juice concentrate of organic cantaloupe melons from the south of France.
An ultra pure, gentle extraction process is used to obtain the extract, using purely physical methods such as crushing and filtration. Through this process, we can avoid the use of solvents and unnecessary chemical additives. The result is a pure, highly concentrated extract, which is rich in the three most important antioxidative enzymes; superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase. These enzymes are present in their bioactive forms, with peak values of guaranteed 14,000 IU/g for superoxide dismutase.
As an enzyme, superoxide dismutase (SOD) is very sensitive to acidic pH, and in its unprotected form it is normally digested and rendered ineffective during gastrointestinal passage. However, the use of organic carnauba wax as a protective coating in our product allows us to ensure that the valuable components of the melon extract pass through the stomach safely, allowing them to release their full potential in the intestine. Vegan, organic wax from the leaves of the carnauba palm is used for this protective coating.
The only additive we use for this product is premium acacia fibre, which is used as a natural high-fibre filler. It is cultivated without pesticides by the market leader, Inavea®. We believe this is more beneficial than using synthetic, microcrystalline cellulose. The soluble dietary fibres of acacia fibre serve as a food source for bifidobacteria and lactobacteria in the intestine. Inavea® acacia fiber comes from climate-neutral, sustainable, resource-saving and fair cultivation.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
