How are we different?

Our 100% pure rosehip powder is ground from Rosa canina rosehips (the variety of dog rose richest in bioactives) grown in Patagonia, Chile. They are organically cultivated at an altitude of 800m on volcanic soil, without fertilisers or pesticides. The sustainable cultivation, combined with the excellent climatic conditions between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, allows these rosehips to develop the highest amount of bioactives of any variety. Since each component of the fruit has a different bioactive makeup, we process the entire rosehip, including its skin, pulp and seeds, in a natural 1:1 ratio (50% skin and pulp, 50% seeds). As a result, the powder retains the same balanced composition of bioactives as the fresh rosehip. Keeping the seeds in the blend is especially important because they are a rich source of phytochemicals and other bioactives.

Our organic acerola is of the highest calibre in terms of its vitamin C content, flavour and natural quality. We not only source our Malpighia glabra cherries from one of the best cultivation regions in Brazil, which boasts an ideal climate, but also ensure that they are processed according to the highest possible standards in order to preserve their outstanding vitamin C content.

Acerola cherry extracts can also reach a high vitamin C content but, in contrast to our fruit juice powder, do not retain all the valuable phytochemicals and other bioactives contained in the fruit. These compounds are crucial in improving the bioavailability and retention of vitamin C. Our organic acerola powder achieves its naturally high vitamin C content of 28% due to the particularly vitamin C-rich acerola variety used, Malpighia glabra, and its minimal processing.

Effects

Organic Rosehip

Rosehips are the red pseudo-fruits of wild rose bushes. The Rosa canina, which thrives in Chile, is the most bioactive-rich variety of rosehip (or dog rose). The wild bushes grow slowly under the harsh climatic conditions in southern Chile, at an altitude of 800m, which fosters the unique quality of this fruit.

Full Spectrum of Natural Phytonutrients from the Whole Fruit

The dog rose's natural phytonutrients and other bioactives occur across different parts of its fruit. With this in mind, we ensure that our rosehip powder is ground from the whole fruit, including seeds and peel. Only then are the rosehip's valuable components present in their natural proportions, while completely preserving their rich variety.

Organic Acerola

The acerola shrub, whose fruits look similar to European cherries (although they are not related), is endemic to Central and South America. Acerola grows mainly along roadsides and rivers, but also on dry, rocky mountain slopes at altitudes up to 1,600m. The acerola we use in this formulation is sourced from Brazil, where it is gently freeze dried immediately after harvest.

Acerola cherries are known for their exceptionally high vitamin C content (approximately 1,700mg/100g fresh). They are also rich in secondary phytochemicals (flavonoids, anthocyanins) and many other components, which together significantly increase the bioavailability and retention of vitamin C. The gentle freeze-drying process results in an extraordinarily highly concentrated powder (30% vitamin C) and does not require the use of any controversial carriers such as maltodextrin.

Health Benefits of Vitamin C

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Vitamin C contributes to:

  • The reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Normal mental function
  • The regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E
  • Normal energy metabolism
  • Normal immune system function
  • The normal function of the nervous system
  • Protecting cells against oxidative stress
  • Normal collagen formation for normal blood vessel function
  • Normal collagen formation for normal bone function
  • Normal collagen formation for normal cartilage function
  • Normal collagen formation for normal dental function
  • Normal collagen formation for normal gum function
  • Normal collagen formation for normal skin function
  • Increasing iron absorption
  • Maintaining normal immune system function both during and after intense physical activity

Cultivation & Processing

Organic Rosehip

The mountainous region of southern Chile offers unique growing conditions for the cultivation of the most natural rosehip plants. The rugged volcanic earth, absence of fertilisers, as well as the intense changes between warm, sunny days and cool nights, allow the Patagonian rosehips to flourish in their ideal environment. The bushes grow slowly, which fosters the development of diverse bioactives within their fruit.

The ripe fruits are harvested by hand throughout March, April and May. The gentle processing of the whole fruit, including skin, pulp and seeds, preserves their natural ratio of bioactives: our powder consists of 50% pulp and skin, 50% seeds.

Organic Acerola

Acerola grows mainly along roadsides and rivers, but also on dry, rocky mountain slopes at altitudes up to 1600m.
