The tropical climate of the southern regions of China gives the native plant species Litsea the ideal conditions for the concentrated formation of valuable ingredients and aromas, such as citral, limonene, linalool and citronellol. The oil is extracted on-site via gentle steam distillation directly after harvesting in compliance with the highest quality standards.

We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The company was founded in the early 20th century and has cooperation partners worldwide, small to large farms, where the plants' origin and quality are well monitored. The essential oils are extracted on site either by gentle steam distillation in a stainless steel tank or by cold pressing. The first certified organic products date back to 2001.

Litsea cubeba is a small tree or shrub from the laurel family that is mainly native to China, Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan. The plant species has a growth height of 8 to 10 metres and in China, for example, it is found at altitudes of 300 to 3200 metres. Leaves and cream-coloured flowers exude a citrus-like fragrance. Traditional Chinese medicine uses the twigs, leaves and fruits of Litsea against digestive problems, chills, backache, headache and muscle pain. The fruits are used as a substitute for cubeb pepper, the leaves and bark are used as a spice and the fragrant flowers are enjoyed as a tea.

The fruity-fresh and lemony aroma has a mood-lifting effect on the mind and calms nervousness, anxiety and insomnia.
