How are we different?

Our organic natural iodine is derived from kelp algae (Ascophyllum nodosum). Ascophyllum nodosum, also known as knotted kelp or Norwegian kelp, belongs to the brown algae and is cultivated in the pollutant-free waters of the Scottish Hebridean Islands in the Northern Atlantic. The algae itself is considered a a complete food because of its rich natural compound of nutrients, which are processed in a special way to produce valuable algae powder with virtually no losses. The process is currently awaiting patenting. Ongoing laboratory tests guarantee the absence of heavy metals, radioactive and microbial contamination and traces of shellfish.

For our organic iodine capsules, the only other ingredient we use besides the capsule shells is a completely natural filler, premium acacia fibre, grown without pesticides. In contrast to conventional synthetic fillers containing microcrystalline cellulose and nanoparticles, we use acacia fibre, a natural foodstuff rich in dietary fibre, as a filler. Our acacia fibre comes from climate-neutral, sustainable resource-conserving and ethical cultivation.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Effects

Iodine is an essential trace element. It occurs in large quantities in nature, especially in the sea, where sea algae enrich their cells with natural iodine compounds found in seawater. Sea algae's natural iodine content exceeds not only that of all fruits and vegetables, but also that of fish and shellfish.

Sea kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum), also known as knotted kelp, is classified as a brown algae. The algae itself is a complete food that contains numerous nutrients in a natural compound, including natural iodide compounds, which form organically and are thus very bioavailable.
