Fig
The fig (Ficus carica) is a sweet and nutritious fruit that belongs to the mulberry family (Moraceae). Originally from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, it is now cultivated in many warm climates around the world. Figs have a characteristic pear-like shape, a soft, thin skin – which can be green, purple or brown – and a juicy, pink to purple-coloured flesh with small seeds.
Apple
The apple (Malus domestica) is one of the world's most widely cultivated fruits. It belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae) and has a history dating back to ancient times. Originally from central Asia, apples are now cultivated in almost all temperate climate zones around the world. Apples are available in many varieties that differ in taste, colour and texture.
