This English lavender is grown at an altitude of 500-1500m in the Kazanlak region of northern Bulgaria, an area famous for its lavender cultivation. The climate in this region offers optimal growing conditions for the native lavender; the hot days and cold nights allow the lavender buds to fully develop their aromas and other valuable compounds, which is why only the fresh buds are harvested for use in the distillation of this essential oil.
We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer in the Provençal countryside of Valréas in the north of Provence in France. The company was founded around 1980 and owns plantations and farms with essential oil plants worldwide. The origin and quality of the plants are very well documented. The company works professionally and passionately according to quality standards and with many years of experience.
The oil is extracted by steam distillation directly after harvesting on the farm in compliance with the highest quality standards. Thanks to their many years of experience, the distillers use a particularly gentle distillation process at low water pressure, which leads to an almost complete extraction of the valuable phytochemicals. Its products are certified with the French organic seal EcoCert.
English lavender belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae) and originates from the Mediterranean region; this plant grows in the Kazanlak region in Bulgaria, which is famous for lavender. The plant grows fairly compactly and bush-like. Its leaves are grey-green and its pale to dark purple flowers bloom on 8cm long spikes. The shape as well as scent of lavender is dependent on the location and elevation at which it grows.
