Our organic dried mango pieces are made exclusively from fully ripened fruits, which are able to develop a particularly aromatic flavour in the sunshine of tropical Burkina Faso. The mango trees are cultivated by independent regional farmers, who use organic cultivation methods aimed at resource conservation in order to support regional development and protect the environment. In countries with high mango export rates such as Brazil, Peru and Pakistan, pesticides are often used in the cultivation of mango trees. Accordingly, mangoes that are not certified organic are often contaminated with residues. The fruits we use come from 100% certified organic cultivation, and are not contaminated with pesticides.
During the harvest season, ripe mangoes are harvested daily by hand and then peeled manually, cut into strips and gently dried in the oven with warm air. By processing the ripe fruits directly after harvesting, their full fruity-sweet aroma, their bright sunny colour, and their rich vitamin content can be preserved.
Standard mangoes found in the supermarket have to be harvested unripe due to long transportation times. This allows them to survive the transport route, but they are also far less aromatic. By processing them directly on site, we are able to use fully ripe mangoes for our premium organic mango pieces. The mango pieces are completely natural, with no added sugar or sweeteners. They are also unsulphured and free from preservatives.
