Finest Origin - Highest Grade

The cinnamon trees (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) for this essential oil are grown organically in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Due to its higher altitude, this region offers a cooler climate with Mediterranean temperatures. The terroir offers the ideal conditions for growth and for the development of the special aromas and ingredients of Ceylon cinnamon, such as eugenol (approximately 75%) or beta-caryophyllene. Three years after planting, the leaves are then harvested twice a year and taken to the local distillery, where they are gently distilled with steam to produce the essential oil.

Farm

We source this oil from an award-winning manufacturer in Sri Lanka that has been producing high-quality spices, plant extracts and essential oils from conventional and controlled organic cultivation for around 40 years. The manufacturer has its own farms and cooperates with contractual partners who meet the high quality standards and company ethos. The quality of the essential oils reflects the values of integrity, social responsibility for people, animals and the environment as well as fair trade and ethical principles of our manufacturer.

Cinnamon tree

The evergreen cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) belongs to the laurel family (Lauraceae) and is native to Sri Lanka, but is now cultivated in regions with a similar climate. It can reach a height of up to 18m. Its thin bark is brown-grey and the tree produces broad leaves up to 12cm long, which are reddish at first and later turn dark green. The aromatic flowers are arranged in panicles and are greenish-white. The pungent, warming aroma of cinnamon is used in Ayurveda to treat digestive disorders, diabetes and high cholesterol levels. The cinnamon leaf is used in traditional Indian medicine for the bladder, headaches and neck pain.

Aroma

This warm-spicy aroma conveys warm, enveloping security and can be stimulating, strengthening and mood-lifting in states of exhaustion and stress.
