How are we different?

Our organic baobab powder is 100% made from the fruit pulp of the African monkey-bread tree. The baobab fruits are sustainably sourced from old, wild-grown trees in South Africa. During the ripening process, the fruit pulp naturally dries within the fruit; this dry pulp is the basis of our highly aromatic baobab powder. After the fruits are fully ripe, they are harvested, deseeded, and the fruit pulp gently milled. The natural drying process means that no preservatives are necessary. Our organic baobab powder retains its uniquely fruity flavour without the use of any additives or auxiliary substances. The powder is naturally alkaline, gluten-free, vegan, and rich in nutrients and fibre.

The baobab farm from which we source this product actively promotes socially responsible, sustainable production and additionally supports many small, local producers with traditional and organic baobab cultivation. This farm has specialised in the processing of baobab. The facility exclusively processes naturally grown baobab fruits from the region.

We use environmentally friendly packaging made from 100% biodegradable and compostable starch, cellulose, paper.

Baobab

Baobab is the fruit of the baobab tree, also known as the monkey-bread tree (Adansonia digitata). This tree is typical of the dry savannah, south of the Sahara in the African lowlands. Traditional African medicine has made use of all parts of the baobab tree for centuries.

Our baobab powder from wild-growing trees is a raw, vegan product. The fruit pulp of the baobab dries naturally during the ripening process. Once it is ripe, the fruit is hand-harvested, and the pulp separated and sieved. The pulp dries naturally, thereby retaining its natural nutritional content with no need for preservatives or additional processing such as freeze-drying or heat extraction.

Both the fruit pulp and the seeds of baobab are edible. The seeds are especially rich in fats while the ripe pulp takes on a tangy citrusy flavour with a touch of caramel. This unique flavour and especially the nutritional value of the fruit make baobab an exquisite superfood that is naturally alkaline and gluten-free.

Region and Processing

The fruits for our organic baobab powder grow in their natural habitat in South Africa in an untouched area. The naturally growing baobab trees in the region are traditionally cared for and maintained by the local population.

While the fruits ripen on the tree, the fruit pulp naturally dries out and transforms into the flavourful, beige-coloured baobab powder. Once the fruits are ripe, they are hand-harvested. The fruits are then carefully opened so that the powder can be separated from the seeds and sieved. This is the process for producing our fruity organic baobab powder. Exclusively made from naturally dried fruits.
