These kaffir lime trees, also known as makrut or Thai lime trees, are certified organically grown in Madagascar. This tropical region and its seasonal temperature differences offer the trees optimal growing conditions that promote the growth of their nutritious and aromatic leaves and fruit. The essential oils are obtained via steam distillation of freshly harvested leaves at the farm's on-site distillery.

This essential oil is sourced from a renowned and certified producer based in Valréas in northern Provence, France. The company was founded in 1980 and owns several essential oil plantations and farms all over the world. The origin and quality of the plants are well-documented. The company ensures that the highest standards are maintained and works professionally and passionately to produce excellent essential oils.

The oils are produced from freshly harvested plant materials via steam distillation. The experienced producers use a very gentle distillation method with low water pressure, which leads to the extraction of almost all the valuable plant substances. Their products are certified organic according to French EcoCert standards.

Kaffir lime, also known as makrut lime or Thai lime, is a small tree or bush belonging to the citrus family (Rutaceae). The branches are thorny and the dark green leaves and white flowers are very fragrant. The relatively dry fruit is quite bitter and sour. The kaffir lime ripens to a green or yellow colour and has a distinctive shrivelled peel. Citrus hystrix is found primarily in Southeast Asia and Madagascar.

The spicy scent has a strong cleansing effect. The intense citrus aroma brings a positive atmosphere.
