Homocysteine is an intermediate product that is formed when the essential amino acid methionine is metabolised. Methionine is mainly found in protein-rich foods. Under the influence of certain enzymes, the undesirable homocysteine can be formed from methionine. Our specially formulated homocysteine complex with the bioactive vitamins B6, B9 and B12 optimally supports normal homocysteine metabolism.
- Riboflavin (B2) plays a role in energy production and reducing fatigue, maintaining healthy skin and mucous membranes and protecting cells and DNA from oxidative damage.
- Pyridoxine (B6) is the most important vitamin for amino acid utilisation and contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. It is involved in the immune system, hormonal activity, nervous system, energy metabolism and the formation of red blood cells.
- Biotin (B7) contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, mucous membranes and hair as well as to the normal function of the energy metabolism, nervous system and metabolism of macronutrients.
- Folic acid (B9) plays a role in cell division, blood formation, amino acid metabolism and homocysteine metabolism and is essential for the healthy development of a fetus.
- Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is required for the formation of red blood cells and for building DNA and proteins. It contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism.
Choline and betaine also contribute to a normal homocysteine metabolism:
- Choline from 82.5mg per serving and
- Betaine from a daily intake of 1.5g.
