Histamine Intolerance
Headaches, palpitations, abdominal pain, flatulence, skin rashes and itching can all be signs of a potential histamine intolerance.
Histamine is responsible for regulating the body's defense against unwanted substances and is broken down by the enzyme diaminooxidase. In histamine intolerance, the breakdown of histamine does not occur sufficiently and the symptoms described above may become apparent.
Histamine intolerance is a trigger for allergies and often occurs in people with a disrupted intestinal barrier. In the body, the messenger substance histamine is broken down by the enzyme diaminooxidase (DAO). If the intestine is weakened or suffering from a disease, production may be too low.
