Our witch hazel extract (Hamamelis mollis Oliver) is obtained by pure water extraction from the flowers. 100% pure plant extract without carriers. The extraction liquid is then subjected to vacuum drying and processed into a dry extract. The extraction is carried out exclusively with pure water and concentrates the valuable ingredients tenfold. No chemical solvents are used in the process.
The only other ingredient we use is a natural filler made from gum arabic. Our premium gum arabic comes from climate-neutral, sustainable, resource-conserving and fair cultivation without the use of pesticides. In contrast to the frequently used synthetic filler microcrystalline cellulose, which is mixed with nanoparticles, we use a natural, fibre-rich food as a filler.
We use special HPMC capsules as capsule shells which, unlike most other HPMC or pullulan capsules on the market, are manufactured 100% without the undeclared excipients carrageenan and PEG. We use light-protected and environmentally friendly amber glass instead of plastic for the packaging.
Hamamelis (syn. witch hazel) gives its name to the witch hazel family (Hamamelidaceae). Outside the flowering season, the witch hazel resembles the hazelnut (Corylus avellana) in its growth. It is therefore colloquially called "witch hazel" by the English. However, when the plant displays its bright yellow to red thread-like petals in the middle of winter, its striking appearance is unmistakeable. The deciduous shrubs, which grow up to four meters tall, grow slowly and form funnel-shaped, upright, loosely branched crowns, which can become quite broad with age. They have smooth, light gray-brown bark. The woody fruit capsules of the witch hazel only ripen in late autumn. They then burst open and eject the black seeds.
There are a total of six wild species of Hamamelis (syn. witch hazel), two of which - the autumn-flowering Virginian witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) and the spring witch hazel (Hamamelis vernalis) - are native to North America. The Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis japonica) and the Chinese witch hazel (Hamamelis mollis) originate, as the names suggest, from east Asia.
Take 1 capsule with 200ml of water with a meal twice daily.
