Vitamin B9: Folate (Folic Acid)
Folate (vitamin B9) is involved in a number of important bodily functions, such as fulfiling numerous important tasks in cell metabolism, contributing to a functioning energy metabolism, reducing fatigue and tiredness and supporting the immune system and mental functions. It is also required for haematopoiesis, cell division, homocysteine metabolism, the formation of amino acids, the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy and all cell division processes.
L-Methylfolate as Magnafolate®
The optimal, biologically active form of folate is known as L-methylfolate (more precisely L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate or L-5-MTHF). L-methylfolate is an important methyl donor and an essential component of the methylation cycle.
With at least 99.9% L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate bound to calcium salt in a special type 1-effective crystal form, the patented premium active ingredient Metafolin is of the highest purity of the active 6S isomer. This ensures an extremely high absorption rate of the active ingredient L-5-MTHF.
According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):
Folate contributes to:
- the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy
- normal amino acid synthesis
- normal blood formation
- normal homocysteine metabolism
- normal psychological function
- normal function of the immune system
- to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- cell division
