This fennel comes from wild collection in pristine nature in Sardinia, Italy. The Mediterranean climate prevailing in Sardinia, due to the seasonal temperature fluctuations, with drought and cold a particularly concentrated and rich formation of ingredients such as trans-anethole, fenchone and pinenes in the plant. The plants with their umbelliferous fruiting are harvested by hand in October, and the seeds are distilled into this fine essential oil by gentle steam in the plant's own distillery.

We purchase our natural aromatic oil directly from a small family business founded in 2010 in Sardinia. The passionate operators specialize in the production of essential oils from wild collection of indigenous plants of Sardinia and also offer a variety of natural cosmetic products from their own production. The manufacturer distills the essential oils with gentle steam in its own distillery, and its products have also been certified organic since 2015.

The annual to perennial fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) belongs to the umbelliferae family (Apiaceae). The yellow-flowered plant has a growth height of 1 to 2 meters. Fennel originated in the Mediterranean region and the Near East, and today it has an almost worldwide distribution. The name of the genus Foeniculum comes from the Latin word 'foenum' and means hay. For the Greeks, fennel was a symbol of longevity, strength and courage.

The fine-spicy, anise-like scent promotes relaxation of body and mind. The soothing aroma has a relaxing and invigorating-empowering effect at the same time. Fennel oil is used both internally and externally for gastrointestinal problems such as abdominal cramps and flatulence.
