Finest Origin - Highest Grade

This little-known species of eucalyptus grows wild in its endemic home in tropical north Queensland. The rainy season, also known as the "green season" because of the heavy tropical rainfall, lasts from December to April in this region of Australia and allows nature to recover from the months of drought. The seasonal temperature and rainfall fluctuations cause the high concentration of nutrients and the richness of the plant's aromas. Unlike other eucalyptus species, Eucalyptus staigeriana has a low content of the natural active ingredient 1.8 cineole, but has a higher content of limonenes, which provide the lemony aroma. During the winter months, young twigs and leaves are harvested by hand and taken straight to the local distillery, where they are processed into this essential oil via a gentle steam distillation.

Farm

The manufacturer of this special essential oil has been working with indigenous Australian plants for over 30 years. Since the early 1990s he has been committed to landscape conservation and the sustainable and prudent use of native plants, and since 2012, he has been selling exclusively indigenous essential oils and hydrosols from both his own production and from that of his collaborators throughout Australia. The indigenous plants used in the production of his essential oils and hydrosols are either wildcrafted or sustainably cultivated.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is an ancient plant from the days of Gondwana; the oldest known eucalyptus fossils, found in Patagonia, show evidence of flowers, fruits and leaves that date back 52 million years. Many primordial plant species were preserved on the Australian continent after its isolation, most notably the eucalyptus; of the approximately 900 species of Eucatyptus, about 95% are native to Australia. Eucalyptus staigeriana or lemon-scented ironbark belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). This little-known eucalyptus species is native to the Cape York region in north-east Queensland. The tree reaches heights of 12 to 21 metres; its greyish-green, oval-shaped leaves have a strong, lemony aroma when crushed. The tree blooms between December and February with a clusters of white flowers that develop into small, oval-shaped, woody seed pods. The pleasant, sweet, lemony aroma of the essential oil is used in aromatherapy, food and perfume.

Aroma

The fresh, lemony, honeylike aroma refreshes, invigorates and relaxes the body and mind. It also has an uplifting effect and helps you start the day with a smile.
