Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Davana is grown organically at an elevation of 950 metres in the original habitat of the plant in India. The plants develop their highest oil content and their valuable natural components, such as davanone and bicyclogermacrene, in moderately humid subtropical and tropical climate zones in India. The entire herb is harvested by hand in February and March and dried for a short time in the shade before being distilled into this fruity-sweet essential oil using gentle steam.

Farm

We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer in the Provençal countryside of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in France. The company was founded around 1900 and has co-operation partners worldwide, small to large farms with essential oil plants, where production is carried out professionally and passionately according to quality standards. The origin and quality of the plants are therefore very well documented. The essential oils are extracted on site either by gentle steam distillation in a stainless steel tank or by cold pressing. The first certified organic products date back to 2001.

Davana

Davana (Artemesia pallens) is a plant species from the aster family (Asteraceae) that is native to southern India. The herb grows to a height of around 60 cm and has silvery-grey feathery leaves and small yellow flower heads. The very aromatic herb is a major attraction for numerous exotic butterfly species. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, davana is used to balance the doshas Vata and Kapha, as well as for mental and nervous conditions, as an aphrodisiac, for diabetes and to alleviate colds. In lndia. The essential oil is used for flavouring food as well as perfumes, giving the creation a special sweet and fruity quality. In India, davana is considered the sacred plant of Shiva and is used in his honour in temples and on altars.
