Finest Origin - Highest Grade

The Blue Cypresses (Callitris intratropica) used for this essential oil grow on unmanaged plantations that were originally cultivated in the tropical region of Northern Australia in the 1950s. The rediscovery of the plant's remarkable natural aromas in the early 1990s led to a renewed interest in the conservation of this species among researchers. This variety of Blue Cypress owes its fragrant aroma to its unique combination of compounds such as guaiol, bulnesol, eudesmol and columellarine. The coveted, cobalt blue essential oil is extracted via a gentle steam distillation over 48 hours, using the Blue Cypress' wood and bark, which are responsible for the oil's blue colouration. The wood is harvested sustainably from wild-growing trees during the region's dry season, between April and November.

Farm

The manufacturer of this special essential oil has been working with indigenous Australian plants for over 30 years. Since the early 1990s he has been committed to landscape conservation and the sustainable and prudent use of native plants, and since 2012, he has been selling exclusively indigenous essential oils and hydrosols from both his own production and from that of his collaborators throughout Australia. The indigenous plants used in the production of his essential oils and hydrosols are either wildcrafted or sustainably cultivated.

Blue Cypress

The ornamental Callitris genus of the cypress tree is the Australian counterpart of the Cupressus, which is native to the northern hemisphere. Native to the tropical regions of Northern Australia, the Blue Cypress (Callitris intratropica) belongs to the Cypress family (Cupressaceae). The evergreen reaches heights of up to 30 meters and can live for over 200 years. The tree is conical in shape and bears delicate, dark green–grey foliage and cones that are almost spherical at the end of its branches. Traditionally, the Blue Cypress was used as an anaesthetic, insect repellent and soothing injuries.

Aroma

The resinous, balsamic fragrance is grounding and can soothe emotions.
