Ubiquinone is the bioidentical, oxidised form of Q10 that is synthesised by body cells. Ubiquinone thus occurs naturally in the body and in food. This coenzyme is very stable and can be converted by the body into the reduced form ubiquinol, which is very sensitive to oxidation and will immediately convert back into ubiquinone upon contact with oxygen.
Regardless which of these two forms of Q10 is supplemented, the coenzyme is absorbed in the intestinal mucosa and can be converted to ubiquinol or ubiquinone.
Ubiquinone is derived from natural fermentation with Rhodobacter sphaeroides bacteria. This bacterium lives in water and obtains its energy via anaerobic photosynthesis. Rhodobacter sphaeroides is capable of producing large quantities of coenzyme Q10. Our Q10 formulas contain a guaranteed active ingredient content and are 100% free from emulsifiers, stabilisers and enhancers.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
