Region and Processing

Region

Cat's claw belongs to the Uncaria family, and is a climbing vine indigenous to the South American Amazon. Cat's claw is exclusively harvested from wild-growing vines, and the annual export volume from Peru is strictly controlled to ensure sustainable cultivation of the resource. Traditionally, the cat's claw bark is used by the Asháninka, the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon, as a contraceptive and to make a strengthening tea that benefits the immune system.

Gentle Processing

Hand-picked cat's claw bark from wild growing vines is cleaned, dried at 45°C and then milled to a fine powder. The powder is sieved and then packaged to protect against moisture, light and oxidation.
