Finest Origin - Highest Grade

This bog Labrador tea grows wild in the arctic circle of Canada's boreal coniferous forest on peaty, acidic and swampy soils. There, the plant chooses the least humid locations such as hills and forests or semi-wooded areas, often growing close to the black spruce. The extreme temperatures and weather conditions of this region stimulate the harmonious production of natural active ingredients such as sabinene, α- and β-pinene, α and β-selinene or terpinen-4-ol. In the summer months, the leaves and young branches are carefully collected by hand and processed in the local distillery using steam to produce this very aromatic essential oil.

Farm

The producer of this essential oil is a company based in the north of the Canadian province of Québec since 2014, which has set itself the mission of sustainable development of the boreal forest of the Québec province, nature and wildlife conservation, partnership with the First Nations People and the Canadian government. The manufacturer pays attention to sustainability at all stages of production, from the tree harvest to the end product, and monitors, controls and documents these processes. The trees and plants used to produce the essential oils come mainly from sustainable and certified wild harvesting, from which high-quality essential oils and hydrolates are produced through steam distillation. The entire production process and the manufacturer's essential oils and hydroalents have been certified by Ecocert Canada since 2015.

Rhododendron groenlandicum

Bog Labrador tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum) is a plant species from the heather family (Ericaceae). It is native to temperate and arctic regions of North America and Greenland and is also occasionally found as a neophyte in Central Europe. The evergreen shrub grows to a height of 0.50 to 1.50 metres. This resinous shrub with thick, alternate and perennial leaves bears white, umbrella-shaped flowers, which are overtaken by young shoots in spring. The back of the leaves is covered with woolly, white or orange-coloured hairs. The leaves were traditionally drunk as tea, hence the name Labrador Tea. The leaves were used by Native Americans to heal wounds when chewed and as an infusion to make childbirth easier. Due to their analgesic properties, the leaves can be dried and powdered to relieve headaches.

Aroma

The complex, aromatic fragrance is reminiscent of a relaxing walk in heath and bog landscapes. It provides peace and balance and opens the senses to intuition and inner wisdom.
