Finest Origin - Highest Grade

The blood orange trees are grown organically on plantations near Mount Etna in Sicily. The family-run company cultivates the citrus fruits with great passion and many years of experience. In addition to the Mediterranean climate, this volcanic region can have very warm and sometimes cold temperatures. The changing temperatures and mineral soils provide the ideal conditions for the growth of the trees and the red colouring of the fruit, which is due to the anthocyanins it contains. Their ingredients and flavours, which consist of over 95% limonene, are developed in a harmonious ratio. The ripe fruits are carefully harvested by hand from December to March, cleaned and then the peel of the fruit is pressed in the cold pressing plant to extract the essential oil.

Farm

We source this essential oil from a small family-run company in Sicily. The company was founded in the 1970s and specialises in citrus fruits. The first organic cultivation began in 2002 and is continuously adapted to the latest findings and the cultivation areas are expanded. The mineral soils and the Mediterranean climate of this sunny region as well as the many years of experience in cultivation, care, harvesting and processing are reflected in the high-quality essential oils from this producer. The essential oils are cold-pressed in the company's own production facilities and have been awarded EU organic certification.

Blood orange

The blood orange belongs to the rue family (Rutaceae) and is a cross between different orange varieties. The original form of the orange comes from South East Asia. The plant grows as a rounded shrub or small tree with oval-elliptical leaves 5-15 cm long. In spring, its freshly scented, white, approx. 4 cm large flowers bloom, which develop into red-orange fruits. The secondary plant substances responsible for the colour of blood oranges, known as anthocyanins, only develop at low night-time temperatures.

Aroma

The fruity-sweet fragrance conveys a feeling of cheerfulness and serenity. The aroma brings harmony, balance and serenity.
