Arabinogalactan, also sometimes called galactoarabinan, is a highly branched polysaccharide. Its structure consists of a galactan backbone and the sugars galactose and arabinose. In nature, arabinogalactan is found in a number of plants, such as echinacea and turmeric, and in the cell walls of mycobacteria. It is mainly extracted from the heartwood and bark of larch trees due to their abundance of the polysaccharide.

How are we different?
Our arabinogalactan powder is made entirely from the wildcrafted bark of western larch trees. The bark, of indigenous origin, is wildcrafted in the Western United States, where the trees have the ability to grow without pesticides in clean, unpolluted air despite their proximity to large cities. In the most gentle and sustainable way possible, the outermost layer of bark is carefully removed only from trees which are deemed suitable in order to prevent lasting damage to their growth and health. After harvesting, the larch bark is gently air dried in the sun and carefully ground. The grinding method used to produce the powder is gentle on the bark's bioactives; in this way, its natural fibre and polysaccharide content as well as its natural polyphenol spectrum are retained. This method also eliminates the need for any chemical solvents or carriers.
